HOT INDIANA INVADERS THROWERS TAKE ON FIELD
AT BILLY HAYES INVITATIONAL AT BLOOMINGTON

(INDIANAPOLIS)-- The Indiana Invaders will travel to Billy Hayes
Invitational in Bloomington, Ind., on Saturday, May 13 with six women
and ten men registered to compete in the meet.
Kirt Thompson hit the Olympic "A" standard in the javelin throw for his
native Trinidad, Jamie Strieter achieved the Olympic Trials qualifier
mark in the javelin throw in two of the last three meets, and Angie
Joy,
the newest Invader, qualified for the Olympic Trials in the discus
throw
last Saturday at a meet at Northern Iowa.
With the U.S. Olympic Trials, to take place July 14-23 in Sacramento,
Calif., nearly two months away, eight members of the Indiana Invaders
have qualified to compete in the meet. Additionally, Kevin Collins
competed this weekend at the U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials and Kelly
French (1500 and 5000 meters) has qualified to compete in the Canadian
Olympic trials and Kirt Thompson in the javelin throw for Trinidad.

The Invaders that have qualified for the U.S. Olympic Trials are:
Collette
Liss (1500 meters), Phil McMullen (decathlon), DeDee Nathan
(heptathlon), Steven Parker (high jump), Le'gretta Smith (400 meter
hurdles), Strieter (javelin), Leslie Vidmar (shotput), and Frankie
Young
(long jump).
Invaders women registered to compete this weekend are: Lorilynn
Hoffman
(1500 metes), Tyra Holt (pole vault), Angie Joy (discuss throw), Hope
Sanders (800 meters), Smith (400 meter hurdles), and Strieter (javelin
throw).
The men are: Antoine Batiste (400 or 800 meters), Jamie Cook (long
jump, high jump, discuss throw, 110 hurdles, and 100 meters), Brendon
Falconer (100 meters, long jump, 110 hurdles, and discus throw), Daren
McDonough (pole vault), Todd Moroney (1500 meters), Steve Parker (high
jump), Jim Sellers (800 and 1500 meters), Thompson (javelin throw),
Gareth Wilford (1500
meters), Frankie Young (long jump),
"Qualifying for the Olympic Trials is the next major step for each of
our
athletes and for those that have qualified they can now focus of
establishing
the "A" standard," said Invaders Head Coach Chris Buhler. "The Olympic
Games are once every four years and now is the time for our athletes to
shine."
