INVADERS ADD INDIANA NATIVE CARRI LONG

(INDIANAPOLIS, IND.) - The Indiana Invaders have added Carri
Long, a graduate of Purdue University and Northview H.S. (IN),
to the club's roster.
Long's athletic endevours in 2000 include the Olympic Trials,
a second place finish at the NCAA Indoor Championships, 6th
at the Outdoor NCAA Championships, and both Indoor and Outdoor
Big Ten Champion in the high jump. This four time All-American
was also a two time high school state champion while at Northview H.S.
In addition to track, Long excelled in the classroom while at
Purdue. Long graduated with honors in May and was awarded the
Big Ten Medal of Honor as Purdue's top outstanding female
student-athlete. She was a finalist for the 1999 NCAA
Sportsperson of the Year Award, honoring sportsmanship as well
as athletic excellence.
Long's combination of track and the rodeo circuit, horse showing
and barrel racing competitions, will be highlighted in the Western
Horseman Magazine. Long is also an accomplished roper of goats and
the May 2001 issue of Western Horseman is scheduled to contain a
feature on the Carri.
"Long's top ten ranking in the high jump will add additional
depth and balance to our team's roster as we look toward upcoming
National Championships," said club director Greg Harger. Added Harger,
"Carri has clearly positioned herself for tremendous opportunities in
the
coming years and we look forward to supporting her quest for national
and international success throughout her athletic career".
