NINE INVADERS QUALIFIED FOR USATF INDOOR NATIONALS

(INDIANAPOLIS, IND.) - Invaders' Tara "Big Time" Loper a graduate of Butler University set the standard at the Cannon IV in the weight throw. Loper's throw of 19.00 qualified her for the USATF Indoor National Championships. Loper becomes the ninth Invader to qualify and will join fellow Invaders in competition March 2-3, 2001 in Atlanta, Ga.

"Tara is just beginning to discover her full potential", said Throws Coach Matt Gaston. Added Gaston, "Tara is producing a new life time best series nearly every time out in competition which speaks volumes about her opportunities both in the Weight Throw and the Hammer Throw when we get to the outdoor season"

The Invaders' hurdlers posted the fastest prelim times with John McAfee (7.98) and Brendon Falconer (7.99) in the 60 hurdles. In the finals McAfee improved his prelim time to 7.93 for the win. Falconer finished third with a 8.04.

Falconer also placed second in the long jump (7.38). Falconer is is set to make his presence felt at the indoor championship along with fellow multi-event national qualifying teammates Phil McMullen and Kamau Sullivan (Indianapolis, Pike H.S.).

Le'gretta Smith's time of 8.27 in the 60 hurdles is her third mark in a week's time meeting USATF qualifying standards in this event.

Set for national qualifying attempts on the second day of competition are the Invaders' Collette Liss (3000), Priscilla Hein (Mile), Steven Parker (High Jump), and the men's 4x400 relay.
