INDIANA INVADERS READY FOR ATLANTA STAGE

(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - The Indiana Invaders look
to the medal stand at USA Indoor National Championships
on March 2-3, 2001. Thirteen Invaders are qualified
for the USATF Indoor National Championships an increase
for the third straight year.
Invaders' Collette Liss (Valparaiso, Ind.) and Phil McMullen
return to improve on their runner-up finishes from 2000,
in the mile and heptathlon respectively. Liss will use the
Mile as part of her final preparation to represent the United
States at the World Cross Championships on March 24-25, 2001.
The Invaders' are lead by a legion of multi-event athletes
headed by McMullen and Brendon Falconer, decathlon competiters
in the 2000 U.S. Olympic Trials. Kamau Sullivan (Pike H.S., Ind.)
will also be contesting in the multi-event competition which
includes the 60, long jump, shot put, high jump, 60 hurdles,
pole vault, and 1000.
The Invaders' are well represented in a good mix of events with
Phil McMullen (heptathlon), Brendon Falconer (heptathlon),
Kamau Sullivan (heptathlon), Hope Sanders (800), Lamont Dagen
(triple jump), Le'gretta Smith (60 hurdles), Steven Parker
(high jump), Carri Long (high jump), Tara Loper (weight throw),
Kyle Baker (3000), Collette Liss (Mile), and Priscilla Hein (Mile).
"We have to be pleased with the numbers competing," said
head coach Chris Buhler, "Indiana stands to be well-represented
in this year's medal count". Added Buhler, "Regardless of the
outcome, we have 9 to 10 very good opportunities to finish in the top 10
with 5 to 6 top 5 finishes a reality this coming weekend".
