INVADERS' COLLETTE LISS SET FOR WORLD CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIP

March 14, 2001

(INDIANAPOLIS, IND.) - Indiana Invaders' Collette Liss (Valparaiso, Ind.) represented the United States at the 8th IAAF World Indoor Track & Field Championship on March 10-11, 2001 in Lisbon, Portugual. Liss finished 8th in her heat of the 1500 with a time of 4:19.23. Seven of the top 25 ranked athletes in the world were in her heat. Liss's European travels will next take her to Ostend, Belgium to contest the World Cross Country Championships on March 24-25, 2001.

"Liss will use her first international track experience as motivation to improve on her 20th place finish of last year's World Cross Country Championships," said coach Chris Buhler. Buhler added, "This weekend was a great learning experience for Liss. The very physical race characteristic of European racing with surges, bumping, and tempo changes is something to bring back into the Invaders' training routine."

Looking forward to the World Cross Country Championships Buhler added, "This 1500 race will make Collette's fire burn even hotter as her race in Belgium approaches."

On March 24th, Liss will be competing in Ostend, Belgium at the World Cross Country Championships representing the United States.
