INVADERS' LISS AT WORLD CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS
March 21, 2001
(INDIANAPOLIS, IND.) - Invaders' Collette Liss, a native of
Valparaiso Indiana, will represent the United States at the
World Cross Country Championships on March 24, 2001.
Liss finished 20th last year and will contest this year's
championship inside the hippodrome at Ostend, Belgium.
After winning the Mile at USATF Indoor Nationals in Atlanta,
Liss has been in Europe as part of two US World
Championship Teams.
This is Liss's second World Championship this month after
finishing 8th in her heat of the 1500 at the World Indoor
Track & Field Championships with a time of 4:19.23.
After the World Indoor Championships coach Buhler commented,
"Liss' focus has been set on this cross country
championship since the Olympic Trials, everything has been
geared for this weekend and she's ready to get after it."
Buhler also added, "Liss will use her first international
track experience as motivation in an attempt to improve on
her 20th place finish from last year's World Cross Country
Championships."
