INVADERS' DEDEE NATHAN TAKES SIXTH AT WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

(INDIANAPOLIS) Invaders' DeDee Nathan finished in sixth
place in the heptathlon with 6073 points at the World
Championships in Edmonton, Canada. Nathan started
day two of competition in eighth place with 3590 points.
Nathan's performance bests her previous top finish at the
World Championship (7th) from '97 in the Heptathlon.
On day one, Nathan placed fifth in the 100H (13.68), 13th
in the high jump (1.70), fifth in the shot put (14.68),
and 10th in the 200 (25.16) for a total of 3590 points.
On day two, Nathan placed fifth in the long jump (6.04),
fifth in the javelin (46.12), and ninth in the 800 (2:19.05)
for a final score of 6073 points.
"My place in the competition was close to the "Top 5 Finish"
that I felt was possible but I struggled with my jumps, which
was a disappointment", said Nathan. Added Nathan, "My season
is not finished yet and I have some decisions to make regarding
preparations for the Goodwill Games."
