September 2, 2001
(INDIANAPOLIS) Indiana Invaders' Olympic Heptathlete DeDee
Nathan will take on the world's best at the 2001 Goodwill Games
in Brisbane, Australia. Nathan will begin competition on Tuesday,
September 4th, 2001 at ANZ Stadium.
"I feel fresh and I'm looking forward to this competition. For
me, it has not been difficult to gear up after the World
Championships for this event," said Nathan.
Nathan was the runner-up at the 1998 Goodwill Games to
World Record Holder Jackie Joyner-Kersee. Nathan's heptathlon
PR of 6577 points is the third best ever by an American. Nathan
finished 7th at the World Championships after winning the USATF
National Championships in June. In July, Nathan won the
shot put and 100H at the USATF National Club Championship leading
the Invaders' women's team to the first women's national club
title. Last year, Nathan won the Olympic Trials and went on
to place 9th at the Olympic Games in the heptathlon.
