INVADERS' HEIN TENTH AT USA NATIONAL 5K
June 3, 2002
(INDIANAPOLIS) Invaders' Priscilla Hein finished 10th, in her first
ever road championship, at the USA 5K National Road Championship
as part of the Freihofer's Run for Women in Albany, New York on June
1, 2002. Olympian Marla Runyan won the race with a time of 15:27.
Invaders' Team Director Greg Harger said, "The last 8 months have been
a very good experience and transitional education for Hein as an athlete
that formerly thought of herself as an 800/1500 athlete. Now she has
a much wider array of opportunities and insights as to what might be
possible at longer distances." Added Harger, "We saw hints of her
potential in Boston on the Franklin Park cross country course, in
Ireland as she faced an international cross country field, and again
in Chicago on the roads over 8K in the Shamrock race. This will
undoubtedly carry over into a few more good outings before the end
of the outdoor track season."
