INDIANA INVADERS AT USA Track & Field National Championships

June 20, 2002
(INDIANAPOLIS) The Indiana Invaders, in their fourth full year of competition, will compete this weekend at the 2002 USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships on the campus of Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA.

The Invaders are led by Carri Long, ranked sixth, in the high jump and Le'gretta Smith, ranked ninth, in the 400 hurdles. Long competed on the US National Team at the 2001 World University Games, finished fourth at Outdoor Nationals in 2001, and sixth at Indoor Nationals in 2002. Smith has the distinction of being the only 400 hurdler in the championship that competed in the finals of the 60 hurdles at the Indoor Championships earlier in the year.

Teammate Linise Gordon will also compete with Smith in the 400H. Gordon, an accomplished hurdler from Ball State University, finished fourth at the Drake Relays this season in the 400H. Priscilla Hein, ranked 13th, will compete in the 1500. Hein won the Fall USA National Club Cross Country Championships in 2001.

Pole vaulter Shannon Gallagher is ranked 16th headed into her event. Gallagher is an eight time USATF Nationals Qualifier and a 10th place finisher at the 2000 Olympic Trials.
