INVADERS PLACE FIVE IN TOP TEN AT USATF INDOOR NATIONALS

(INDIANAPOLIS) Five of eight competing Indiana Invaders finished in
the top ten at the USA Track & Field Indoor National Championships.
Tameka Borders, a graduate of Ball State University, led the charge
on the third and final day of the championship with a sixth place
finish in the 200 with a time of 24.38.
Borders advanced to the finals of the 200 with the sixth fastest time
of 24.00 in the semi-finals. On day-two, Borders was 10th in the 60.
Teammate Donnie Fellows, a Big Ten Champion in the 10,000 while at
Purdue University, finished sixth in the 3,000 with a time of 8:09.06.
Shannon Gallagher ranked sixth going into the pole vault did not clear
the opening height.
Team Director Greg Harger said, "Everyone did a great job competively
this weekend. The preparation and training for the indoor season will
show itself during the outdoor season." Harger added, "Gallagher's
performance wasn't expected. As an eight-time USATF Qualifier she has
the experience and talent to get the job done, but it just didn't
click today."

The USA Indoor Track & Field Championships are the world's oldest indoor
track championships, with the first meet being held in 1888 in New York.
Next weekend, the USA Indoor Combined Events Championships in Chapel
Hill, North Carolina will feature Invaders' Alex Sprague (Heptathlon),
Brendon Falconer (Heptathlon), and Linise Gordon (Pentathlon).
