INDIANA INVADERS ADD WORLD CLASS 800 RUNNER, ANTHONY KABARA
December 3, 2003
(INDIANAPOLIS) The Indiana Invaders have added 800 meter runner
Anthony Kabara to the team's roster. Kabara is an 11 time NAIA
Champion from Cumberland College (KY) with a career best of 1:45.29
in the 800.
Kabara, as an 18 time NAIA All-American, has ranked in the top 100 on
the world list for each of the past three seasons with a best of 36th.
Kabara holds eight school records at Cumberland College.
During a limited 2003 season, Kabara won the 800 at the Dublin
International Games (IRELAND), the Kajaks International Track Classic
(CANADA); and finished second at the Maine Distance Festival and in
Budapest, Hungary. Kabara took third at the Tyson Invitational
in his single appearance on the Golden Spike Series indoors.
Team Director Greg Harger said, "Kabara sits at the cusp of elite
international competition and his hunger to attain admission to the
next level should be evident this coming season." Added Harger,
"We expect to see very fast and exciting races from Kabara as he
gears up to championship form. Kabara's interest in exploring
the 1500 may bring some added excitement to his season."
The Invaders have a team history that includes eight individual
National Champions, one World Champion, one American Record, and six
National Club Team Championships since the formation of the club in
1998.
