INVADERS' HEATHER MAY HEADED TO OLYMPIC TRIALS MARATHON
March 31, 2004
(INDIANAPOLIS) Indiana Invaders' Heather May returns to St Louis to
compete in the 2004 U.S. Olympic Women's Marathon Trials on Saturday
April 3rd. May enters the 150 athlete field of America's top female
marathoners with a career best of 2:46.41 set at the Motorola Marathon
in Austin, Texas in February of 2004.
May lived in St. Louis for five years and the first three years of her
training and initial road racing experiences were in St Louis' Forest
Park, through which the Olympic Trials Marathon course will travel.
May, a graduate of Grinnell College (IA) and West Lafayette High School
(IN), received her Master Degree in Theater from Washington University
in St Louis and is currently working toward a PhD in Theatre & Drama
at Indiana University.
Team Director Greg Harger said, "May has a great opportunity to break
into the top 1/2 of the field this weekend in what is clearly just the
beginning of her elite running career. She's excited about retuning
to St. Louis and taking on the challenge of her first Olympic Trials
competition."
