INDIANA INVADERS ADD MILER CHRISTOPHER HENDRIX-BUXTON
December 6, 2005
(INDIANAPOLIS) The Indiana Invaders have added distance runner
Christopher Hendrix-Buxton, a graduate of George Mason University,
to the team's roster. Hendrix-Buxton was a NCAA Cross Country national
qualifier in 1998 and took sixth in the Penn Relays Olympic Development
mile in 2002 and has a career best of 4:05.7 in the Mile.
In high school, Hendrix-Buxton was an All-American with several national
and state relay titles. He took fourth in the Golden Spike Mobil Indoor
H.S. mile in 1997 and fifth in 1998.
Team Director Greg Harger said, "Buxton has posted some credentials on
the track like a 2:24 for 1,000 meters that indicate great potential and
he is hungry for a long-term stable training environment which bodes
well for him in our team oriented setting. He's highly motivated to make
a name for himself." Harger added, "We're excited about his addition to
the team. Our men's middle distance group is essentially completed now
for this Olympiad and we can focus on the pursuit of consistent
excellence with this group over the next few years while we look to
select an additional four to five longer distance prospects to complete
our men's distance crew."
Hendrix-Buxton joins a roster that includes 16 athletes that qualified
for the 2004 US Olympic Trials.
The Indiana Invaders, a not-for-profit organization founded in 1998,
presents an innovative approach to track & field by providing a
resident-based, athlete-centered support system unique to the sport in
the United States.
