Drug Testing:
Junior and Elite Open athletes who participate in this competition will be subject to formal doping controls in accordance with IAAF rules. Athletes finishing in world championships qualifying places as well as athletes chosen at random will be tested. Athletes found positive for banned substances will be disqualified from this event and may face further punitive action such as removal from the USA World Cross Country Team.
Athletes who participate in the championships must agree to be tested upon request, or face the same penalties as if they tested positive. Some prescription, herbal, and over-the-counter medications and supplements contain banned substances. Information regarding drugs and drug-testing may be obtained by calling the toll free USOC hotline at 800-233-0393.
